About us

The Clay Company is a vibrant and dynamic pottery studio dedicated to teaching the art of ceramics and producing handcrafted, small-batch pieces. With two inviting locations—our cozy original studio nestled in the bustling electronics market of Nehru Place, New Delhi, and our spacious new studio in Gurgaon—each space serves as a haven for those who share our deep and enduring love for clay.
Founded in 2012, The Clay Company started as a teaching hub, offering pottery workshops for adults. By 2015, we expanded into a comprehensive studio, transforming from a hobby center into a producer of handcrafted ceramics for both commercial and home use.
Our passion is evident in every piece we create and every lesson we teach. We are committed to perfecting the experience, ensuring that whether you're in our studio or enjoying our products, you can feel the craftsmanship, creativity, and joy that goes into each piece.
Our inclusive philosophy welcomes beginners to explore their creativity in our classes, while our production line draws inspiration from around the world. Our small team of like-minded potters shares a keen eye for detail and a passion for crafting beautiful, joyful experiences and objects.
Aparna Choudhrie [ Founder ]
Our dearest Founder established The Clay Company in 2011. Her journey is a blend of corporate excellence and creative discovery. With over 13 years in leadership roles at giants like PricewaterhouseCoopers, GE/Genpact, and Infosys BPO, she thrived in global roles across India and Europe, living in New Delhi and London. Armed with a Bachelor's in Economics from St. Stephen’s College and a Master's in Business from Carnegie Mellon University, Aparna had a stellar corporate career.

In 2004, seeking balance from her stressful corporate life, she stumbled upon her true passion: pottery. What began as a calming hobby quickly became a life-altering passion under the guidance of talented potter Monica Grewal in New Delhi. This newfound love for ceramics led Aparna to take breaks from her corporate job to pursue pottery. She trained at The La Meridiana Ceramics School in Tuscany and the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. She later learned from renowned Raku specialist Manisha Bhattacharya in India.
Seven years later, Aparna left her corporate career to establish The Clay Company, making the joy of ceramics accessible to all. Aparna's venture grew from workshops at the Alliance Francaise in New Delhi to collaborations with Manisha Bhattacharya and IFCI. In December 2015, The Clay Company opened its first studio in Nehru Place, New Delhi, offering regular workshops and classes.
